Broad Street Office in Claremont Opens in January 2023
Five years ago, our 11 School Street office was facing a space crunch with workstations under the stairs and in every available alcove, and a conference room too small for Board and staff meetings. That year we were gifted a building at 231 Broad Street in Claremont from John and Carolyn Pierzchala.
While we looked at other locations, the building at 231 Broad Street proved the best option–especially when Jay Barrett of Barrett Architecture stepped forward to draw up plans pro bono to raze the back of the structure and add a two-story ell.
Generous Donors Share the Enthusiasm for a New Main Office
Federal grants and gifts from Deborah L. Coffin, the Burkehaven Family Foundation, Jane and Peter McLaughlin, Sheila and Michael Satzow, Harvey and Christina Hill, Arthur Getz Trust, Couch Family Foundation, Jane’s Trust, Parker Nelson Foundation, Mascoma Bank, LaValley Building Supply, Bio X Cell Fund, and Casella Waste Management ensured the new office would become a reality.
Construction Progressed throughout 2022 and Wrapped in Early 2023
Below are a series of speed videos that take you through the process as DEW Construction, Jay Barrett, and Clerk of the Works George Chait, who volunteered his time, transform the building into our new main office.
On October 12, we invite the public to tour the new facility, meet our staff, and celebrate with the community this wonderful new facility supporting domestic and sexual violence survivors and providing prevention education space in Sullivan County.
